I am looking forward to joining this year's Night Hike to benefit Alyn Hospital and I will be hiking in honor of my late father, Dr. Jay Rubin, z"l. 

We just passed his first yurtzeit and my dad and my son, Ezri, shared an incredibly special bond. Ezri has CP and has benefited from the amazing care at Alyn - in fact, his independence is completely credited to Alyn and their electric wheelchair rental program. This was how Ezri first learned to drive an electeic wheelchair - which has been his tool for freedom ever since. 

Besides just being a "grandfather" in the typical sense, my dad did everything in his power to make sure Ezri got the best care, all the right treatments, and and saw top specialists. He truly made sure that Ezri was in the best hands. Ezri and my dad loved to watch movies together, watch hockey, play games, and toss hilarious jokes around. 

By taking part in this hike, I hope to help other children who need help - something my father very much valued. I also got my love of the outdoors from my dad, so I could not think of a greater way to help honor his memory.
